We worden voortdurend overspoeld met boodschappen over geluk en succes, maar in de moderne wereld blijken die gevoelens vaak moeilijk te bereiken. Tussen het betalen van rekeningen, het omgaan met werkdruk, het onderhouden van een huishouden en er zijn voor de mensen van wie we houden, kan “volwassen zijn” voelen als een voortdurende poging om te voldoen aan een eindeloze lijst van tegenstrijdige verwachtingen en verlangens — met weinig ruimte voor onszelf. Samen met Jade Scott, een journaliste van begin dertig die zelf in een overgangsfase zit, verkennen we de vaak onbenoemde complicaties van volwassen worden.
